Legal Practice Manager

Our client, a highly reputable legal firm, is seeking a Legal Practice Manager to oversee their operational and compliance functions. This is a key leadership role, ideal for a proactive and experienced professional who thrives on managing diverse responsibilities within a fast-paced legal environment.

From compliance and financial oversight to team management and strategic contributions, you will play an integral role in shaping the firm's continued success.

Key Responsibilities of Legal Practice Manager

  • Team Leadership: Lead and support finance and administrative teams, ensuring high performance and morale.

  • Financial Management: Oversee accounts, VAT returns, payroll, and financial compliance, including adherence to Solicitor Accounts Rules (SARs).

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the firm meets SRA, AML, and other regulatory standards, advising on best practices.

  • Strategic Contributions: Attend senior management meetings and contribute to the firm's growth and development strategies.

  • Operational Oversight: Manage insurance renewals, accreditations, and compliance systems, including Lexcel and CQS.

  • Technology: Support the implementation and use of case management systems (experience with P4W is advantageous).

About You

The ideal Legal Practice Manager candidate will bring a blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and a hands-on approach. You may also be a Finance Manager who is ACCA qualified but has worked in a law firm.

Criteria to be a successful Legal Practice Manager:

  • Proven experience in a similar role within a legal or professional services environment.

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, accrual accounting, and Solicitor Accounts Rules (SARs).

  • Experience with compliance responsibilities, particularly COFA and COLP 

  • Ability to manage diverse operational challenges, with exceptional organizational and communication skills.

  • Proficiency in IT systems, including case management platforms e.g. P4W 

  • Experience with Lexcel and CQS standards.
